Interestingly, people with higher ANGPTL8 levels tended to have a higher biological age. In simple terms, their bodies appeared older than their actual age might suggest.
What Mice Can Tell Us
Researchers also looked at ANGPTL8 in mice.
Mice with lower levels of the molecule tended to live longer, giving researchers another reason to investigate its role in aging.
The findings also suggested that aging fat tissue may be an important source of ANGPTL8.
Of course, results in mice don’t automatically mean the same thing will happen in humans. More research is needed to understand what this means for people.
